Check this (boingboing) link out. NYPD deployed a Long Range Acoustic Device at the RNC. No reports of the device being used yet, but this thing is capable of detonating eardrums at up to 300 yards. Nice. I wonder if they'll start teargassing the protesters..... oh yeah. They do that already.
In related news, high volume audio can be lethal.
I guess that's why it is an experimental non-lethal device. They might not be sure quite yet. I suppose that is why they took it to Iraq to test first. Don't get me wrong, I am glad they are not just shooting them instead.
